What I stopped letting AI do after it cost me a dayWriting code got cheap. Checking whether it is right did not. I lost most of a day to a change that was correct, reviewed, and built on a premise that was wrong from the first sentence. Writing code got cheap. Verifying it did not.AI made writing code cheap this year. It did not make verifying code cheap. The bottleneck moved one step downstream, to the part nobody automated: deciding whether the code is correct, safe, and worth keeping.
